Plank Owner, Oct. 1981 - Aug. 1984, Engineering Dept, E- Div. EE02 LPO, Propulsion Electrician, EM2. I spent my entire tour as a main space EM, and I worked for and with some of the finest sailors I I have ever served with. By far my best time and best ship I served on in my 26 year navy career. I retired in 2005 as an EMCS. I learned a lot on that ship, and it helped me throughout the rest of my career. Thank you to all my shipmates!
I am looking for any info on my uncle, WILBERT ZOELLNER, from Perryville, Missouri, who served on the New Jersey from 11.23.1945 to 1.17.1946.
While on the ship, Web had an "episode" in which he fell to the deck and lay semicomatose. He was soon diagnosed psychoneutoric with hallucinations and ultimately discharged from service. He spend the remainder of his life in a military hospital insane ward. We, as a family, have his official military records, but have always been curious as to any reason or unwritten warning to his ailment. He had no prior mental disorders. If anyone has any info on him... be it good or bad... we really want to know. Wilbert has one living brother, my father, and I'm trying to heal a suffering heart before my dad meets Wilbert in heaven.
(there is an oral history of the possibility of lack of oxygen in his prior service in Submarine div #103... no proof has ever surfaced)
Thanks to anyone for any bit of info.

Hello to all my fellow shipmates. I have been back once to see the gal in Camden and was sad to see the Teak gone off the Main deck, but was prooud to take my daughter onboard and be able to show her a major part of my life. At the time we went the engineering spaces were not open to the public, 8 years ago, but being a former crewmember me and my family had all access to the ship. It would be a pleasure and an honor to hear from any that I served with. Fair winds and folowing seas to all.
My Grandfather Gaetano Santangelo.(could also gone by Gaetano St. Angelo) was on the Jersey in WWII. Unfotunatley I don't have much info about it, he never talked about it. I was told when he got off the ship he tossed everything he had overboard. I want to try to replace what he lost, bars metals any memories I can find. If anyone has any info on him or can tell me how to go about getting the material replaced, please email me.

Since WWI, challenge coins have served to remind groups, teams and units of their common goals, dedication and allegiance.
I don't know if we have one but if we don't I would like to suggest that the organization create a challenge coin and make it available for purchase by its members.
We were on the most decorated battleship in history and we all share a part of her.
